A Brokered Convention?
It’s way too early to say this could really happen, but it’s a possibility with the GOP Convention. Imagine 5 candidates showing up in MN with delegates, with maybe a few of them in the 30% range, a few in the teens, and one in single digits. It would be fascinating, and I’d figure out a way to get up there to see it happen. But it’s a long ways off, and I have the sneaking suspicion that one of the candidates is going to really do something definitive between now and Feb. 6th. People want to count out Rudy. I wouldn’t. He’s in the lead in FL and CA, and despite all the hype about the Huckster and McCain, over 97% of the delegates are still up for grabs. In other words, we’re in the first few minutes of the first quarter. The Big Mo counts for something, but really, as in most contests, preparation goes a long ways towards victory. As far as I can see, the only one who has prepared for all four quarters of the contest would appear to be Rudy. But things change, and change quickly. He will probably go 0-6 before FL. Can he overcome the negatives of that? Who knows.
