Chris Hackett
(PA-10)
www.chrishackettforcongress.com
Bio:
In the aftermath of the 2006 elections, it became clear there were 5 seats that the Republicans lost that if viable candidates were fielded, those seats could be won back. The 10th Congressional District seat of Pennsylvania is one of those seats and Chris Hackett is a very viable candidate. A small businessman, Chris understands the danger of a government that continues to grow and while he leads with fiscal conservatism, he leaves no doubt as to where he stands on the social issues. He is staunchly pro-life and believes that marriage is between one man and one woman. Just like Pete Olson’s race in Texas, this is a seat we can win back with a strong conservative.

Erik Paulsen
(Minnesota-3)
http://www.paulsenforcongress.com
Bio:
Erik Paulsen is the only Republican running to replace retiring Congressman Jim Ramstad (Republican). A member of the Minnesota House since 1994, Paulsen served as Majority Leader before Democrats took the majority. While this will be a tough race to win, it is winnable and Paulsen is very viable. The added plus to having Paulsen is that while Congressman Ramstad was a member of the liberal, pro-choice Republican caucus, the Main Street Partnership, Paulsen received a 100% rating from Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life (July 2007). He is strong on social and fiscal issues and with no primary to deal with, Paulsen will have the ability to raise funds while his 3 Democrat opponents are still fighting for the Democrat nomination.

Marilyn Musgrave
(Colorado-4)
http://www.musgraveforcongress.org
Bio:
First elected in 2002, Congresswoman Musgrave represents the 4th District of Colorado and she has been a consistent conservative voice on multiple issues in Congress. For the last few election cycles, she has been the target of homosexual activist Tim Gill and his 527. A founder of the 2nd Amendment Caucus in the United States House of Representatives, Musgrave has been an outspoken opponent of gun control laws as well as a staunch supporter of life, voting for the Partial Birth Abortion ban in 2003 and consistently voting against federal funding of embryonic stem cell research. In 2008, Congresswoman Musgrave will be challenged by Betsy Markey, former field staffer for current Democrat Senator Ken Salazar and former Chairwoman of the Larimer Democrat Party.

Paul Broun
(GA-10)
www.paulbroun.com
Bio:
First elected in a special election in July 2007, Congressman Broun replaced deceased Congressman Charlie Norwood. A committed conservative, Congressman Broun has been an outspoken advocate for life, marriage, national security and 2nd Amendment rights in his 10 months in Congress. Facing his first re-election, Congressman Broun continues to push for fiscal responsibility in Washington, DC, often finishing his campaign speeches with, “"Today's federal government is too big, too powerful, and too expensive because it is doing things beyond the scope of what our Founders envisioned the national government should be doing. This is foolish and it is dangerous." Applying his four question test (it constitutional and a proper function of government? Is it morally correct? Is it something we really need? Is it something we can afford?), Congressman Broun has already taken some courageous stands on the House floor. We want to help him return to the House in January of 2009 so he can continue to stand up for the conservative values the Madison Project believes in.

Pete Olson
(TX-22)
www.olsonforcongress.com
Bio:
Emerging from a tough primary run-off, Pete Olson is running to win Tom DeLay’s old seat back from Democrat Congressman Nick Lampson. Strong on issues like national security, immigration, life and the 2nd Amendment, Pete was chief of staff for one of the great conservatives in the United States Senate, Senator John Cornyn of Texas, for 5 years before returning to Texas. A Navy veteran, Pete has firsthand experience on the big issues facing our nation today. This is a seat that we can win back in November and we want to do everything that we can to help Pete win.

Fred Dailey
(Ohio-18)
http://www.daileyforcongress.com
Bio:
After winning a tough primary on March 4th, Fred Dailey became the Republican candidate to run against incumbent Congressman Zak Space. Fred Dailey has a long track record in Ohio, being appointed as Director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture by Governor George Voinovich in 1991, a post he held for 16 years. A graduate of Anderson University in Indiana, Dailey is a combat veteran, having served with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam. An avid outdoorsman, Dailey has scaled two of the seven continental summits: Mt. Elbrus (former USSR) and Mt. Kilimanjaro (Africa). Unlike his opponent, Fred Dailey is an outspoken conservative. He says of himself, "I am Pro-Family, Pro-Life, Pro-Second Amendment, Pro-Worker, Pro-Business, Pro-Family Farmer, Pro-Defense and Pro-America." (During his first term in Congress, Space has voted to support embryonic stem cell research [with regulations] as well as voting to expand research to more embryonic stem cell lines. He also received a 100% rating from NARAL.)

John Gard
(Wisconsin-8)
http://www.gardforcongress.com
Bio:
In a rematch of their 2006 race, John Gard will once again square off against Congressman Steve Kagan. Narrowly losing to Kagen in 2006 by only 8,000 votes (51%-49%), Gard is in a good position to challenge Kagen in 2008. During the 4th quarter of 2007 Gard outraised Kagen $201,652 to $192,002 in contributions. With their 2006 race having gone down as the most expensive Congressional race in Wisconsin history, it looks as though Gard and Kagen will again spend a lot of money to win this seat and the Madison Project wants to ensure that Gard has the funds to win. John Gard is pro-life, a strong supporter of 2nd Amendment rights, opposes tax increases and wasteful government spending. He is the epitomy of the type of candidate the Madison Project seeks to support.

Bobby Jindal
(Louisiana Governor's Race)
Bio:
After narrowly losing the Louisiana Governor’s race in 2003, Jindal won the U.S. 1st Congressional District in 2004 with 78% of the vote. He then won re-election again in 2006, and is currently running for the Governor’s seat in 2007. The current Governor, Kathleen Blanco, declined to run again for a variety of reasons, and was trailing Jindal in the polls by a significant double digit margin. Former U.S. Senator John Breaux also declined to run against Jindal. Jindal is running a strong campaign, has a significant cash advantage over any Democrat who is running against him, and with very high name ID in the state, appears to have a very legitimate shot at winning this race. Please consider giving $25, $50, $100, or even more, to help Bobby win his race.

Steve Pearce
(New Mexico Senate)
http://www.peopleforpearce.com
Bio:
During the summer of 2007, Congressman Pearce announced that he would run for the Senate seat being vacated by Senator Pete Domineci. Congressman Pearce was a pilot in the Air Force and flew missions into Vietnam from the Philippines. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal. During his tenure in the House, Congressman Pearce has had a consistent social and fiscally conservative voting record. He voted no on allowing human embryonic stem cell research, voted to impose a partial birth abortion ban, has a 100% from the National Right to Life Committee, and also voted to provide tax relief and simplification.

Jim Risch
(Idaho Senate)
http://www.risch4idaho.com
Bio:
Jim Risch is one of 9 candidates running for the Republican nomination to succeed retiring Senator Larry Craig of Idaho. Risch is the former Governor and current Lieutenant Governor of Idaho. Risch lead the fight to ban Partial Birth abortion and was known as a pro-life advocate during his tenure in the Idaho Senate. While Lt. Governor, Risch called the Idaho legislature into a special session for them to vote on his Property Tax Relief Act of 2006. The Act passed and among the highlights from the bill was a reduction in property taxes by $260 million by eliminating the public schools maintenance and operation levy on Idaho real property. He epitomizes the social and fiscal conservatism that the Madison Project embraces.

Bob Schaffer
(U.S. Senate, Colorado)
www.bobschafferforsenate.com/
Bio:
Bob Schaffer, former three-term Congressman from Colorado's 4th District, is officially running to fill the seat being vacated by Senator Wayne Allard. Just endorsed by Club for Growth, Schaffer is a limited government, pro-growth, social conservative that the Madison Project is proud to endorse. At this moment, Bob is the only Republican candidate for the seat, and as he picks up more key endorsements, it appears it will remain that way heading into the 2008 elections. His opponent, Democrat Congressman Mark Udall, has a headstart in fundraising, but with the support of conservatives from around the country, Bob should be able to quickly level the monetary playing field. This race will be one of the key Senate races in 2008, and the Madison Project hopes to play a part in making Bob Schaffer the next U.S. Senator from Colorado.
